Cortex (“Cortex,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website cortexnotify.com and provides operational SMS notifications to authorized account holders of registered home-automation accounts (the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information when you use the Service.

1. Information we collect

When you sign up for the Service, we collect:

• Account identifier — a short reference associated with the home-automation account on which you are an authorized user.
• Mobile phone number — the number to which we will send SMS notifications.
• Consent record — date, time, IP address, and the form version through which you provided opt-in consent.

We do not collect Social Security numbers, financial account numbers, payment card information, or government identifiers. We do not request information from children under 13.

2. How we use information

We use the information described above solely to:

• Send the SMS notifications you have opted in to receive;
• Respond to HELP requests and confirm STOP opt-outs;
• Maintain records of consent as required by applicable law and carrier rules; and
• Operate, maintain, and improve the Service.

3. SMS / Mobile information sharing

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties, except for the messaging aggregators and providers (including The Campaign Registry and Twilio) strictly necessary to deliver the Service.

4. How we share information

We share the limited information described above only with:

• Messaging service providers (e.g., Twilio, The Campaign Registry, mobile carriers) for the sole purpose of delivering opted-in SMS messages to your number.
• Legal authorities when required by law, subpoena, or court order.

We do not sell, rent, lease, or trade personal information to any third party for any purpose.

5. Your choices

• Opt out at any time by replying STOP to any SMS message from Cortex, or by submitting the opt-out form.
• Request help by replying HELP to any SMS message, or by emailing contact@cortexnotify.com.
• Request data deletion by emailing contact@cortexnotify.com with your mobile number; we will delete your records within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

6. Data retention

We retain consent records and minimum operational records for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with applicable carrier and regulatory requirements. Opt-out records are retained to prevent unsolicited messaging.

7. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect the limited information we collect. No transmission over the Internet is fully secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children

The Service is not directed to individuals under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Effective date” above and, where appropriate, by notifying you via SMS or email.
